Growing pains, but at least we are growing

We are very excited about the traction our site has received since our public launch on January 4th of this year. We ran for three month’s in “word of mouth” mode begging our friends and family to record a video of them cooking (anything!) and uploading it to our site through our YouTube plug-in. On January 2nd, Mike and I decided to go public. Mike began to pound the virtual pavement communicating with foodie bloggers, podcasters and cooking video producers. The response has been tremendous and we are truly thankful to everyone who has supported us thus far.

Last night we ran into our first snafu. The smooth ride couldn’t go on forever, right? I was trying to improve our site to be more “seach engine friendly” and made a change that effected the Likes everyone has been collecting on their videos. We are dependent on Facebook’s Like system to tally votes. It works really well, because Facebook will not allow the same person to like the same video twice. Facebook stores all of our website’s Like history on their servers, so even though the Likes appear to be gone, Facebook still has a record of them.

So here’s the plan…Any votes you see on the contest page will be added to the original votes accumulated over the past 22 days. We know this is irritating, but it will not compromise the outcome of the contest. Thanks for being patient, sometimes growing pains put us to the test, and yesterday they did.

Here are the voting results prior to the interruption. Couscous 131, Stinging Nettle 113, Mardi Gras Pasta 103, Breakfast Oats 18, Vegan Larabar 6, Vegetarian Sushi 6, Coconut Waffle 6, Mapa Tofu 5, Vegan Alfredo 4, Vegetable Lasagna 4, Vindaloo Curry 4 and NY Strip Steak 3. Here is the actual screen shot from our Facebook account:

If you have received votes today they will not be displayed here. So for instance, Julie’s Mardi Gras Pasta received 8 votes today, so her total vote count is 111. We will continue to post this page on the StoveTop Hero blog and do a combined tally at the end of the month. Thanks again for entrusting us with your videos and entering them in the contest. There are still eight days left so don’t give up and keep encouraging people to vote. In November we had someone get 100 votes in a day, so tell your friends to help ya out!
